our BIG news!

so it's been two months of keeping this to ourselves and it's time to share our very happy news...

we're going to have a baby!

starting this weekend I'll be in my second trimester and our doctor let us know it's safe to say we're going to be parents. we saw our lil nugget for the first time february 17th (about 10 weeks)—and let me tell you it was the most amazing moment of our lives. there baby was squirming around on screen, yeah baby looks like a lil peanut but it was our peanut :) we saw its lil heartbeat fluttering on screen too. such a cool experience.

I'm toward the end of week 12 and we're both very excited to share the news. it's funny—I obviously knew I was pregnant and the baby gave me a daily friendly reminder of nausea, extreme tiredness, and headaches but it wasn't until we saw baby that it really all became real. :) seeing the smile on mark's face is a memory that I'll never forget.

this past week I've been feeling MUCH better. I'm actually able to eat without feeling sick and I think my appetite is coming back! for about a good 6-7 weeks I felt like a seasick hungover sailor every day. I'm so happy I feel better this week and I hope this continues!

our baby's due date right now is september 11 (grandparent's day). it's a great month to be born, in my family—mom, dad, mark, ryan (my sis' BF), cousin nicole, erik, cousin emilila and uncle ken are all september babies. I know my mom is smiling from above!

how big is baby?
our fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (much more convenient.)

  5. Haha, definitely just one in there! I don't like using "it" to reference baby even though it's true. I should probably just use baby not to confuse anyone :o)

    And thanks everyone!
