lily updates - 21 months

how is our lily ALMOST 2? we can't believe we soon will have a 2-yr old monkey on our hands.

lily continues to love school and knows everyone in her class by name. on the friday before mother's day when I came to pick her up she picked up a doll and play bottle and was pretending to feed her. I turned to her teacher and was like 'she plays with dolls?!' (in the past she had been a bit rough with them.) her teacher was surprised too and said wow, usually she's in the corner with all the books! i love my lil book worm!

she also really loves music. we love seeing her bop around when she here's a commercial or when she listens to one of her favorite songs in the car. at school she was the first to catch on the hokie pokie and danced around with the teachers while everyone else stood and watching. lately, wheels on the bus is on repeat on car rides to and from work and mark and I secretly want that CD to break. :) there's only so many times the wheels can go 'round and 'round! don't get her started on 'ring around the rosey' either because when 'we all fall down!' lily expects a dramatic performance every time! she also wags her finger and makes a stern face (hilarious) when we sing 'no more monkeys jumping on the bed!' it's wonderful re-learning all of these childhood songs with her.

over the past couple of months lily's vocabulary has grown quite a bit. she is able to point things out on her own and ask us (more of a command) for things. lily for a while has known the letters of the alphabet and recently counted to 10 on her own. she also knows her colors and we love playing the color game during bath time. i'll sit with her and ask her 'where is the green cup, turtle etc.'? and so on and she splash around and find her toy for me.

it's so fun to see lily develop and us being able to communicate with her. from day one our lily has had a really strong (and loud) personality and now with words we are able to meet in the middle and solve misunderstandings faster. makes life so much easier! can't wait for what the summer months have in store for us! our next update lily will be two!
